Due to current events both Totnes Museum & Totnes Archive will remain closed until further notice.
This is not a decision taken lightly as we are a small organisation. But it is most certainly the right one, made with the interests of our volunteers and the general
public at heart.
Although the archive will not be taking visitors it will continue to answer local and family history enquiries in addition to offering family history research for
£7.50 an hour. If you have any enquiries for them please contact totnes.archives@outlook.com or via the
website.
Please keep an eye on our website and on social media for any further developments.
We look forward to seeing you when we open our doors once more but until then look after yourselves and each other.
Best wishes,
Totnes Museum & Archive

Become a Trustee
Totnes Museum's Statement of Purpose
We aim to celebrate the people and town of Totnes – its stories, lives, objects, history and future – and to inspire, understand and learn about our place in the world
We are looking for trustees to join our friendly and dedicated Board, to help oversee the management of Totnes Museum and be involved in shaping the future of the museum, to ensure that we can continue to be a thriving venue for visitors and the local community for the next fifty years and beyond.
We welcome applications from people with a wide range of skills and experience; if you are interested in a trustee role and feel that you have different skills to contribute, please apply.
There is no deadline for applications at present, but please be aware that due to the current circumstances, it may take longer than usual to process applications. We will acknowledge receipt of your application.
For further information or to discuss the roles, please email info@totnesmuseum.org with your contact details and one of the Museum’s trustees will contact you.
If you do not feel the role of trustee is for you but wish to be involved in Totnes Museum in another capacity, please contact us at the above email address. There are many volunteer roles within the Museum, such as collections volunteer, exhibitions volunteer, researcher and many more.
Volunteer at Totnes Museum
be a part of our wonderful team
It is an exciting time to become a volunteer at Totnes Museum. Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do, and their value is immeasurable. You will be joining our thriving and dedicated team of volunteers who help make Totnes Museum the success it is today. There is a role to suit everyone, with opportunities in collections management, public engagement, visitor services, exhibitions and more. We are flexible with the time you can commit and will provide full training.
Our volunteers give their time for many different reasons; some are passionate about history and heritage, some use the skills they gain with us as a stepping-stone to paid employment, some want to meet people and make new friends. Whatever your reason for volunteering, we can help you to fulfil your personal goals whilst you help us sustain your local community museum.
If you would like more information about volunteering at Totnes Museum, please email info@totnesmuseum.org and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can call us on 01722 332151. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
