More Ways to Explore Totnes History

Totnes Castle

A classic example of a motte and bailey castle a short walk from the centre of town. 

 

A focal point in the history of the town. Climbing to the top will reward you with a amazing view of the town and towards the river Dart. 

Totnes Guildhall

This fantastic Guildhall has stood in the centre of Totnes for nearly 1000 years. Explore this historic building and its displays telling its stories. 

 

St. Mary's Church

This is the beautiful church which stands in the centre of Totnes. With so much history to explore there it is another must see during your visit.

 

Totnes Fashion & Textiles Museum

Each year they present a new themed exhibition containing clothing of men, women and children from the 18th to the 21st century all displayed in a woderful grade I listed building, Bogan House. 

Totnes Image Bank

Based in Totnes, this is a volunteer run historic photographic archive.

 

You can visit them in person or explore their truly vast catalogue online.
