If you would like to meet new people in a friendly environment and help inspire those around us, as well as support Totnes Museum, volunteering with us could be the answer. Totnes Museum and Archive are both entirely run by volunteers and we are always looking to recruit more people to our friendly team. You don't necessarily need experience - your enthusiasm and willingness to be involved is just as important.
There are several opportunities and we are flexible with the roles and time you can commit. Volunteering activities take place all year round, not just when we are open to the public.
We also offer placement opportunities for post 18 students - contact chair@totnesmusuem.org if you are intersted in this.
When we are open to the public (from April to the end of October) the main requirement is for front of house and stewarding the different galleries, but there are some opportunities for behind the scenes work.
Opportunities for volunteering include:
Welcoming visitors
Stewarding/being a room guide
Assisting with exhibitions
Showing visitors around
Caring for our collection
Promoting the Museum
Helping in the archive (Fridays)
Helping steward paranormal events (late evening/early mornings)
Training and support is provided.
We're also looking for a volunteer to act as a Volunteer Coordinator. If you're interested in doing this, please email chair@totnesmuseum.org
If you're interested in volunteering with us please email info@totnesmuseum.org or call in when we're open and speak to us. We'd love to welcome you to our team!
We're sorry, but at the moment we are unlikely to accept volunteers under 18. It might be worth asking though.
